Every year, one hot toy rises to the top of American wish lists and every year, demand exceeds supply and millions of frantic parents go to extremes to get their hands on it.
Some of the most memorable hot toys of years past include Cabbage Patch Kids (1983), Teddy Ruxpin (1985), Nintendo Gameboy (1991), Beanie Babies (1996), Tickle Me Elmo (1996) and the comeback kid, Furby (1998).
Hasbro's all-new Furby is teetering on the brink of becoming 2012's holiday "it" toy. Totally redesigned for the new millenium, this year's Furby comes in bright, bold colors, such as teal, orange, red, and yellow. The new Furbys are also more technically advanced than their older cousins. Kids can use the free Furby iPad app to translate Furbish, Furby's native language, to English, to know exactly what their new furry friend is trying to tell them. It also learns English the more it gets played with. LCD eyes give the new Furby more personality and sensors on the head, mouth, tummy, back, and tail allow it to respond to how it is being treated. When Furby is caressed gently, it coos and acts happy. Get a little rough and Furby's eyes will become pouty and it might choose to ignore you or even power off for a short period of time.
People who shop for their Furby early will have the best chance of getting the color they want. They will also avoid overpaying for their Furby. In 1997, Tickle Me Elmo, who's retail price was $28.99, was selling for as much as $1,500 on eBay!
The new 2012 Furby can be purchased at Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Kmart. They are currently not in stock online at ToysRUs.com, however, more inventory may become available soon. Grab your 2012 Furby today!

October 2011, there were plenty of purple Figits in Target. I decided to wait. In December, I wasn't able to find a purple Figit anywhere but Ebay. I bought my Aqua Furby today at Target for $54 b/c I learned my lesson last year!
